It is known from special sources that the official is Surendra Behera, working superintendent engineer of Angul Irrigation Department. Vigilance is conducting simultaneous raids at 8 places including Bhubaneswar.

The raid was conducted after a search warrant was issued against Surendra Behera, Superintending Engineer of the Irrigation Department of Angul, on charges of amassing disproportionate assets. It is learnt that 3 DSPs, 10 inspectors, 4 ASIs and other support staff were involved in the raid.

The three-storey building located in Dare, a two-storey building located in the outskirts of Gopabandhu town in Rourkela, in Bhubaneswar’s Kurankia, Ganjam district’s Purushottampur PS, his ancestral house in Ranjhali village, in-laws’ house, government quarters in Angul, and government offices are being inspected for irregularities.
